Tokyo 2020 organisers apologise for taking sailors to captive dolphin show

British sailor Luke Patience calls choice ‘embarrassing’ for a sport that is supposed to protect marine life

The organisers of sailing events at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics have been forced to issue an apology for arranging a dolphin show for sailors competing in the World Cup Series.

The competition, which opened at the weekend near Enoshima island, was intended to give the Games’ organisers an opportunity to gauge their level of readiness and to allow competitors to familiarise themselves with the course.
