The explosion and fire happened at a restaurant in Sapporo in the northern island
A large explosion and fire is reported to have wrecked a restaurant in the northern Japanese city of Sapporo, injuring at least 20 people.
Pictures from the scene, following the blast on Sunday evening, showed firefighters searching the building which appeared to have been virtually demolished.
