Sydney derby delayed by severe storms: Mariners slump again

Heavy storms have delayed Saturday night’s A-League derby between Sydney FC and Western Sydney by 50 minutes at ANZ Stadium. The match was delayed twice before kickoff due to a torrential downpour and train delays before officials again pushed back the start of the match until 8.40pm.

Sydney FC had suffered a blow pre-game with veteran defender Alex Wilkinson ruled out of the match due to a virus, and replaced by Aaron Calver.

In Wellington, Central Coast Mariners have an unwanted place in A-League history after a 2-0 away loss to Wellington.
