Human rights groups urge Australia’s foreign affair minister to put ‘maximum pressure’ on Thai government
Australia’s foreign affair minister will meet with Thai counterparts to lobby on behalf of refugee footballer Hakeem al-Araibi on Thursday afternoon, as pressure mounts to have him freed.
Marise Payne, who has been calling for Al-Araibi’s release since he was detained in late November, said she would also “advocate” for his release in her meetings with Thai ministers alongside other issues.
