Tearful Andy Murray says he will retire after 2019 Wimbledon at the latest

Andy Murray has said he is planning to end his tennis career at Wimbledon this summer, but does not know if he can continue playing through pain and suggested that the Australian Open could be his final tournament.

At a press conference in Melbourne, a tearful Murray had to leave the room after revealing his hip pain was still “not great”, 12 months on from surgery. After returning, he insisted he would still try to play at the 2019 Australian Open but added “the pain is too much really. I don’t want to continue playing that way.”
