Tensions bubble up after China's 'Food God' pours scorn on hotpot

Famous restaurant critic in hot water after saying the beloved dish ‘totally lacks cultural significance’ and isn’t delicious

A famed restaurant critic and TV personality, known as the “Food God” of China, has found himself in hot water – or a steaming vat of hot broth – after criticising the beloved cooking method Chinese hotpot.

Chua Lam, a Hong Kong-based critic who is also the author of several cook books, made the comments during an appearance on the talk show Day Day Up.
