Kharla Williams says she was urged to be quiet about sexual assault complaint against former Melbourne lord mayor
A woman who accused Robert Doyle of sexual assault has criticised the council investigation into the former Melbourne lord mayor’s alleged conduct, saying she felt authorities simply wanted her to “be silent and go away”.
Kharla Williams, who was among several women who made a complaint about Doyle to Ian Freckelton QC’s investigation, made a statement at the weekend to Victoria police. The police department said it was in the preliminary stages of an investigation into “historical sexual assault matters”.
