Maritime agency points to possible safety code breach by bulk carrier pushed on to coral reef during Cyclone Oma
A $30m bulk carrier that’s spilling oil in the Solomon Islands may have run aground because of a possible breach of the international safety management code because there may not have been enough crew members on night watch despite a cyclone warning.
There are likely to be massive insurance ramifications for the ship’s Hong Kong owner, South Express Ltd.
