Environment secretary presents himself as ‘unity candidate’ in bid to become PM
The environment secretary, Michael Gove, is set to enter the race to be next prime minister as the fight for the Conservative crown showed signs of turning increasingly bitter.
It is understood Gove will join an already crowded field on Sunday after the foreign secretary, Jeremy Hunt, and former cabinet ministers Dominic Raab and Andrea Leadsom threw their hats into the ring.
