The Hockeyroos have scored three goals in five minutes in the second quarter to beat Great Britain 4-2 in the FIH Pro League in London. Maddy Fitzpatrick and Brooke Peris scored in the 18th minute before Jane Caxton added another five minutes later and Mariah Williams’ 37th minute goal all but assured Australia of victory at the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre on Sunday.
Britain’s Hollie Pearne-Webb and Tessa Howard pulled back goals in the 43rd and 53rd minutes but it was not enough for an unlikely comeback. The hosts had more shots than the Hockeyroos (14-10) but the visitors proved more clinical in the circle.
