Virgin Australia to cut 750 jobs after $349m full-year loss

CEO announces restructure amid falling passenger numbers and ‘tough economic climate’

Virgin Australia has announced it is cutting 750 corporate and head office jobs as part of a restructuring plan forced on the struggling airline by falling passenger numbers.

After posting a “disappointing” full-year loss of $349.1m on Wednesday, Virgin said the “challenging trading environment” on top of headwinds such as increased fuel prices had led to the job losses.
