Australian Electoral Commission argued there was no evidence signs in electorates of Chisholm and Kooyong had changed voters’ minds
The federal court has upheld the election of Liberal MP Gladys Liu and treasurer Josh Frydenberg, dismissing an appeal that Chinese-language signs, designed to look as though they were from the Australian Electoral Commission, were misleading.
But the Liberal party’s acting Victorian director, Simon Frost, has been ordered file a submission with the court as to why he had not committed an illegal practice under s329(1) “in respect to characterisation of the corflutes”.
