Australia’s drought response is in urgent need of simplification, according to the country’s peak farming group, which has called for greater collaboration between state and federal governments.

It comes as the federal government’s new drought coordinator, former Northern Territory chief minister Shane Stone, refused to be drawn into the debate over climate change’s impact on the drought, saying he was acting as a “public servant” and his opinion was not relevant.
