The premier of New South Wales, Gladys Berejiklian, has admitted to “mixed feelings” about the New Year’s Eve fireworks display in Sydney during elevated bushfire risk and following the death of a volunteer firefighter.
The fireworks will ring in 2020 at midnight on Wednesday, despite the closure of popular vantage points and political and community opposition.
