Report finds with most deaths unintentional and involve prescription medication
More than 2,000 Australians are dying from drug overdoses every year and there is a clear upwards trend in deaths, according to researchers, with most deaths unintentional and involving prescription medication.
Australia’s Annual Overdose Report shows that in 2018, 2,070 people fatally overdosed, with a majority of the deaths involving opioids, stimulants and the use of multiple substances at the same time.
